John's Gospel | John 2:13-25 - Jesus Cleans House
Friday Jun 05, 2020
Friday Jun 05, 2020
John is beginning to show us the start of Jesus earthly ministry. We have seen the first sign - the salvaging of a disastrous wedding celebration by turning water to wine. Now John shows us the first interaction with the religious authorities and system of his day. You might have thought that they would be interested to meet the one who has been acclaimed by John, John the Baptist and his disciples as the Messiah, and has a growing number following due to the miracles he performed. Instead, what results is a clash that evidences the deadness of their religion and that Jesus is the true temple - the presence of God on earth - to be sought out.
We see three themes as John shares the story of Jesus cleaning house in the temple:
1. The temple that must fall
2. The temple that will be raised
3. A Saviour who isn't swayed
Join us as we explore John's Gospel together and examine the Jesus that we find there - all in the hope that you may believe he is the Son of God and that in him you may have life.

John's Gospel | John 1:35-51 - Come to Jesus
Sunday May 24, 2020
Sunday May 24, 2020
John has begun his Gospel with a clear statement of who Jesus and what he did. He was far more than a really good man, or an inspiring teacher; he was God himself the light of the world, who came to live with us, reveal God's glory and save us from sin and darkness. In just the first chapter, John has also shown John the Baptist testifying that this was who Jesus was and now we see the testimony of the first disciples to follow Jesus, realising this is who Jesus was from their first encounters with Him.
We see three themes as John shares the story of Jesus' first disciples being gathered to Jesus:
1. The Gospel calls for our life
2. It's a shared journey
3. It's an invitation to ride the coat-tails of greatness
Join us as we explore John's Gospel together and examine the Jesus that we find there - all in the hope that you may believe he is the Son of God and that in him you may have life.

John's Gospel | John 1:19-34 - The Sideman
Sunday May 03, 2020
Sunday May 03, 2020
John's Gospel began with an iconic prologue in the first eighteen verses that set out the focus and character of John's collation of events from Jesus' life and ministry - they will seek to evidence the point that Jesus was the eternal, pre-existent Word of God, now in flesh to shine light in the darkness and overcome Satan, sin and death.
Now John turns to his star witness in this case - John the Baptist - who will give testimony that Jesus was the Son of God, the spirit-filled servant of God and the Lamb of God who comes to be a sacrifice for sins to cleanse the sins of the world. John the Baptist is happy to understand himself as Jesus' sideman; he is here to talk about Jesus, to prepare people for Jesus and to talk up Jesus.
As John the Baptist is called to the stand by John (the Gospel writer) as his star witness we will consider four themes that come out in the narrative:
1. John's Emergence
2. John's Identity
3. John's Saviour
4. John's Testimony
Join us as we explore John's Gospel together and examine the Jesus that we find there - all in the hope that you may believe he is the Son of God and that in him you may have life.

Hebrews 7:23-28 | Jesus our High Priest
Sunday Apr 26, 2020
Sunday Apr 26, 2020
Join us as David High speaks to us from Hebrews 7:23-28 and the High Priesthood of Jesus by asking three crucial questions:
1. Why do we need a High Priest?
2. What's so good about the High Priesthood of Jesus?
3. What difference does this make here and now?
Join us as we explore how we find that we are able to come close to God with confidence through the ministry of Jesus on our behalf, that we can draw near to God because Jesus has already brought us near and we can hold fast to Jesus because He is holding us.
